Live in Dortmund, explore Europe

For international students, Dortmund is a splendid location. With no tuition fees charged and modest cost of living, it sits at the center of Europe, the Ruhr Valley, a vibrant region with plenty of cultural, entertainment and leisure activities on offer.

Bullet trains and the local airport provide quick and affordable transport to explore the rich varieties of the continent’s history and lifestyles. Colonge and Düsseldorf are in the vicinity. Within just a few hours Frankfurt, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, and Istanbul, as well as the beaches of the Turkish Riviera and the Spanish island of Mallorca, can be reached.

Soccer-mania at the heart of Europe

Dortmund is an ideal place to come to as a student. It is one of Germany’s biggest cities within one of Europe’s largest agglomerations, the Ruhr Valley. Located at the heart of Germany and the EU, it is home to superb research and teaching facilities, big business headquarters and, not least, media outlets of national as well as international recognition.

There’s a rich cultural scene, but most of all Dortmund is soccer-crazy: Borussia Dortmund is one of the eminent clubs in the pan-European Champions League. Home matches regularly attract soccer afficionados from all over Europe, turning the city into a giant joyful party location. Living in Dortmund means you can enjoy all the advantages of a major metropolitan area, but at reasonable cost of living – and with no tuition fees charged (though there is an administrative charge per semester).
